How long has your worksite wellness program been in place? The original committee formed in April 2005. A revitalized and expanded program was presented to executive management in October 2007. The committee reorganized and rolled out new CUWell name and logo in 2008.

Why did your company begin a wellness program? Our program was initially implemented because we care about the overall wellness of our employees. We want to be an employer of choice, and we recognize that wellness is not just a physical attribute. That is why we broadened our program to include the four pillars of wellness: physical, emotional, financial and community.

How do company leaders encourage participation in the wellness program? Meritrust?s Board and Executive Management Team developed a five-year strategic plan that incorporated the CUWell wellness program. Executive management team participates in the onsite screenings and HRA as well as additional activities offered throughout the year such as incentive challenges, wellness fair, coaching and more. The CUWell program is also strongly promoted during employee meetings ensuring employees are fully aware of all services being offered and to help answer questions about the program.

How do you measure the success of your wellness program? We measure our success by overall participation in the program as well as the success stories that are reported on a quarterly basis by our YMCA Healthy Lifestyle coach.

Do you have rewards for participation or goal achievement in your wellness program? If so, what are they? Participating in wellness activities throughout the year will earn you points in the SimplyWell program. Earning established point levels by the established dates can earn you rewards. Tracking your points using the SimplyWell Program is how you?ll progress to better health and how you earn rewards. Six point areas action plan points required: 1. Health questionnaire 1,000 points; 2. Health screening 1,000 points; 3. Appointments (points vary) 1,000 points; 4. Education modules (5 @150 points) 750 points; 5. Health trackers (50@20 points) 1,000 points; 6. CUWELL wellness events 5,250 points. Points awarded for sharing your results with your physician, challenge programs, special events, a good health score, and more! 10,000 points total.
