Accounting Faculty Member - HigherEdJobs

A full-time, 12-month faculty position is available in the Accounting Department. Start date is negotiable. This position would teach a
combination of day, blended (evening/online), and online classes in forensic accounting, cost accounting, payroll and Peachtree software.
Candidate must have a master's degree and CPA with a minimum of three years of work experience in the accounting field. Faculty rank is
commensurate with higher education experience.

Academic Responsibilities:

Academic responsibilities for full-time faculty members have been defined as follows:

Faculty Member
% of Time - Description
60% - Course instruction
20% - Course administration
10% - Service
10% - Professionalism

Faculty performance appraisals are based on these areas of academic responsibility.

A full-time faculty member provides instruction for a maximum of 72 quarter hours in a four-term academic year. Assignments shall normally be a maximum of 18 quarter hours per term.

Faculty are expected to support, encourage, and promote the vision, mission, purposes, and educational philosophy of the College. This includes serving as a liaison to the business community. Faculty are to serve as professional role models for students by exhibiting appropriate business demeanor and ethics, proper business attire, a professional attitude, and appropriate work habits.

Faculty are responsible for the following academic activities:

  • Preparing instructional materials and other learning activities
  • Collaboratively establishing, monitoring, and reporting outcomes, competencies, objectives, and/or other resources for assessment purposes
  • Assessing student learning outcomes
  • Completing academic functions such as recording daily attendance, evaluating students' work, calculating students' grades, and submitting course grades to the Registrar's Office at midterm and at the end of the term
  • Maintaining course Blackboard sites
  • Participating in other academic activities such as advising students and assisting those students who need additional assistance outside of the classroom
  • Supervising student checkers/classroom assistants
Related professional academic responsibilities* include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Regularly attending scheduled meetings including departmental meetings, advisory committee meetings, and faculty inservices/workshops
  • Participating in annual Commencement Exercises
  • Serving on a minimum of one College or Faculty committee
  • Participating in a minimum of two campus student recruitment/retention activities
  • Attending or participating in other College/student activities whenever possible
  • Service for an external professional association or committee may be considered in lieu of one or more of the above-bulleted items
All faculty shall exhibit professionalism in advising and instructing students and in working with other faculty, administrators, and staff. This includes displaying a professional attitude toward the College and sharing communication with faculty, staff, and administrators while honoring the appropriate confidentiality of the parties involved.
